The Brand Fiction Factory
Mad Men Collective
Fan fiction is has been around a long time. Enthusiasts creating alternate storylines based on the characters developed by a book, movie, or tv show. There are thousands of these stories out there. (Here's a trove of fan fiction - not all stories work safe, so to speak.)
Why I'm mentioning this.
If your brand is vivid, authentic, "real" it can exist beyond the point of use or purchase. It can own a preferred place in peoples lives. People won't just buy the product they'll wear the t-shirt.Reaching that level of reality can't be faked... for long. It's the result of a process of discovering internal truths and goals. It's listening to how you are perceived and understanding why that perception exists. And finally it's aligning all your actions with who you really are and who you really want to be.
Then it's all about following through. About your actions. Because the world sees what you value, think, and aspire to being – through your actions. For example: What you think of your customers comes out in how you treat your employees.
Don't be fictional. Be "real".
(And if you're real enough, your fans will create the fiction for you.)
